Some of you are aware of the ‘corks’ and some are not. If you are not, here’s some background… Last year I wanted to mix things up a little by coming up with a completely new way to approach my work. I don’t recall the complete train of thought that brought me to surround some of my small oil paintings with different species of cork, but when I finally figured out that I wanted to try this, I went ahead with creating a whole series of these (most of which are now sold). I call them ‘corks’ out of convenience – but they are a combination of oil paint over gesso on plexiglass, complimented carefully with an appropriate cork ‘surround’. They are really a new sort of mixed media that I have never seen done before.
